Overview
This qualification is designed to equip students with the practical knowledge and skills required to effectively support management functions and contribute to efficient service delivery within the public sector. Public service administration focuses on developing the administrative, organisational, and communication competencies needed in a government environment.
Throughout the qualification, students gain exposure to key areas such as human resources and understanding finances, drafting of official documentation, project support, and the effective use of technology in a public service context. Additional focus is placed on coordinating meetings, compiling reports, supporting supply chain processes, and developing professional work practices. The qualification includes practical, work-based learning to ensure that students can apply their knowledge confidently in real-world environments.
Full-time course duration
1 year of theoretical and practical weekday classes, followed by a 6-month workplace component.
Admission requirements
Grade 12 or a National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at NQF Level 4 or any other NQF 4 qualification with communication.
Who Should Study This Programme?
- Matriculants who wish to enter the public service or administrative field
- Current public sector employees seeking formal recognition and career advancement
- Individuals interested in pursuing a career within government administration and public service
Certification
You are prepared to write the External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA), set and administered by the QCTO. On successful completion of the EISA you will receive the Occupational Certificate: Public Service Administrator (SAQA ID: 118766, NQF 5) issued by the QCTO.
In addition to the above, students also receive a Unigrad College Short Learning Programme Certificate in Public Administration and Management, endorsed by the Chartered Institute of Business Management (CIBM).
Unigrad College further recognises student achievement by awarding a Certificate of Completion for successfully completing the knowledge and practical components of the programme.
